Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the BillMyRate calculator, read the guides or email us. In short: the numbers you type into the calculator stay in your browser, Vercel Web Analytics counts page views, and Google’s advertising code loads on every page. Apart from the IP address and request details our host, Vercel, receives when it delivers a page, the only personal information we hold is email you choose to send.

Who runs this site
Andrew James Flores owns and operates Nathan Management, a California-based business that builds and runs calculators and reference guides for independent professionals. Nathan Management publishes BillMyRate and is responsible for the information practices described on this page. You can reach us through the contact page.
The calculator and your numbers
You do not need an account, an email address or a login to use the calculator. Everything you type — your pre-tax income goal, business operating costs, benefits budget, billable hours, weeks off, collection percentage, fees, the rate you are testing and your project figures — is calculated in your browser with JavaScript. The calculator’s own code does not send those numbers to us, to Google, to an analytics service or to anyone else, and it does not write them into the page address, so they never appear in a link you share.
When you select “Keep this comparison”, the plan is held in the tab’s memory, up to three plans at a time. Nothing is saved to cookies, local storage or a server, so reloading or closing the tab erases your comparisons.
“Download plan (.txt)” creates a plain-text file named billmyrate-pricing-plan.txt on your device, and “Print” opens your browser’s print dialog. Both copies are yours. On a shared computer, delete the downloaded file when you finish, because it contains your income goal and costs.
Hosting and analytics
Vercel hosts billmyrate.com. As with any website, when your browser requests a page, the host’s servers receive your IP address and the details of that request so the page can be delivered.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which guides people read. Vercel’s Web Analytics privacy and compliance documentation (as published on September 23, 2026) states that the service:
- uses no third-party cookies and identifies visits with a hash created from the incoming request;
- discards visitor sessions automatically after 24 hours;
- records each page view with the time, page address, referrer, filtered query parameters, approximate location (country, region and city), operating system, browser and device type;
- keeps those records anonymous, without tying them to an individual or an IP address.
We see only aggregated totals in Vercel’s dashboard. The calculator sends no custom analytics events, so your figures never reach the analytics service.
Cookies and advertising
Google may display advertisements on pages of this site. Google’s advertising script loads on every page; when it runs, Google may receive your IP address and the address of the page you are reading, and may set or read cookies, whether or not an ad appears. The calculator’s own code sets no cookies and uses no browser storage.
Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Other third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies to serve ads on this site.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, where Google’s EU User Consent Policy applies, Google may show you a consent message that asks whether cookies and personal data may be used for advertising. The choice you make there applies to Google’s advertising on this site.
How to limit ad personalization
- Turn off personalized ads in Google Ads Settings. If you are signed in to a Google Account, the setting follows your account across devices; if you are signed out, it applies to the browser you are using.
- Opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies with the Digital Advertising Alliance’s WebChoices tool, or, in Europe, at Your Online Choices. WebChoices stores your opt-out in cookies, so clearing cookies undoes it. The Alliance offers a Protect My Choices browser extension to keep it in place.
- Block third-party cookies in your browser’s privacy settings.
Opting out changes whether ads are personalized. You may still see ads. Google describes its own practices in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Email you send us
If you write to nathanmanagement@agentmail.to, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. Messages are read by Nathan Management, and replies usually arrive within three business days. We use your message to answer you and, when you report a problem, to correct the site. We do not sell or rent your messages or share them with advertisers, and we do not add your address to any mailing list. Our email service provider stores the messages on our behalf. We keep correspondence while it is useful for answering you and for keeping a record of a correction, and we delete it when you ask.
Your privacy requests
For email you send us, you can ask us to:
- Access: send you a copy of the messages we hold from you.
- Correct: fix anything inaccurate in what we hold, such as a misspelled name or an old email address.
- Delete: erase your messages and your email address from our inbox.
How to make a request
- Email nathanmanagement@agentmail.to with the subject line “Privacy request”.
- Say whether you want access, correction or deletion.
- Send it from the address you used to write to us, or tell us that address, so we can find the right messages.
We usually reply within three business days and complete the request within 30 days of receiving it. There is no charge.
Information held by other services is managed through them. Vercel’s analytics records are anonymous and aggregated, so there is no individual record for us to retrieve or delete.
Google holds its own advertising data; use Google Ads Settings and the Google page linked above to see or change what Google uses.
Links to other websites
The guides link to outside sources such as the IRS, and this page links to Google and advertising opt-out tools. When you follow one of those links you leave BillMyRate, and the destination’s own privacy policy applies.
Children
BillMyRate is written for adults who set prices for their own business. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has emailed us, tell us and we will delete the message.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date under the title changes with it. For a material change, a one-line summary of what changed stays in this section for at least 30 days.
Latest update, September 23, 2026: added how to request a copy, correction or deletion of your emails, and how Google’s consent message works in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
